About Utsav

Sawai Madhopur Utsav is the celebration of the Foundation day of the city of Sawai Madhopur on 19th January the day the city of Sawai Madhopur was established by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I in 1763. Since then, every year, the day is celebrated as the foundation day by the locals.

The 255th foundation day on 19th January, 2018 will be the third edition of the new era in the celebrations that took off in 2016. Collector and Mela Vikas Samiti, Sawai Madhopur in collaboration with Gunijankhana: Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh Jaipur Museum Society headed by Princess Diya Kumari, MLA, Sawai Madhopur, a descendant of Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I, has decided to take the celebrations on to the world tourism map. The Utsav will be an annual feature.

Sawai Madhopur was built, on similar lines of Jaipur, as a planned city by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I. The town, which bears the name of its founder, is also home to the Ranthambore National Park which includes the historic Ranthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sawai Madhopur is famous for the Trinetra Ganesh temple and its guavas, affectionately known as “Madhopur guavas” in Rajasthan.

Sawai Madhopur Utsav is being envisioned as a festival of the rich heritage, culture, art & craft of the region, will be an experience to remember and cherish. National and International dignitaries and tourists will partake in the Utsav. This is being done to enhance a sense of pride in the local citizens about their history and culture. While it will keep its focus on the local talent and resource, there are also plans to invite National celebrities for performances.

The 2 day celebration will include variety of programs a colorful extravaganza worth experiencing.
